Filing for Bankruptcy
We have experience helping individuals and businesses relieve their debts by filing for bankruptcy. We can help with both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases.
Chapter 7: In a Chapter 7 bankruptcy case, many types of debts are discharged, including medical bills and credit cards. In these cases, the person's property is liquidated, or sold, to pay the person's creditors. However, due to home, automobile and other exemptions, many people can protect most, if not all, of their property. We work with our clients to make sure they understand the process and that we maximize the exemptions allowed.
Chapter 13: In a Chapter 13 case, individuals are allowed to reorganize their debts into affordable monthly payments, generally for a period of three to five years. The court discharges the debt that they cannot afford to repay during the repayment period.
